With four Rookie Draft selections and one Pre-Season Draft pick, the West Coast Eagles have made all of their choices in 2009, a West Australian affair.
Their first pick (11), saw them pick up Lewis Broome, who many had thought would be selected by the Eagles in the National Draft.
Broome can play a midfield role, and is dangerous around the goals as a crumbing forward.
Broome was arguably the changing force in Claremont’s (colts) win over Peel Thunder in this year’s grand final.
The second half saw the pace and wizardry skills of Broome explode past, and dazzle Peel’s defence.
Broome was the smallest player on the field and transformed the contest to a one sided victory.
He finished the grand final win with four goals, and best on ground votes.
