Simon White will join seven other West Australians at Carlton after being selected by the Blues during the 2009 Rookie Draft.
White slid to pick 56 after many predicted he would go a lot sooner.
A tall defender, White has a great leap, strong mark, and excellent closing speed resulting in the frequent spoiling of his opponents.
White is the first to admit that his draftee success is attributed to Subiaco forward Brad Smith, and coach Scott Watters. Watters would put Smith and White against each other each training session, allowing White to learn how to play against a bigger and more experienced body.
Able to push up forward in crucial times, White has been likened to that of former Eagle, Adam Hunter, and with a large hole still apparent in the Blues forward since the departure of Brendan Fevola, the likelihood of game time looks imminent.
